Spring time!

i recently had a sketch book assignment to spend an hour on an observational drawing.  this drawing of a hibiscus is the result of my hour spent outside.  sometimes we have to be forced to do the things we love so that we remember why we love them in the first place!

one of the things i want to devote more time to in 2011 is drawing...i love to draw, it is calming for me.  i checked a book out of the library today called basic drawing techniques.  it took me back to my first drawing class at auburn where i spent quite a bit of time drawing blind contours.  my shoe drawing above is one of the recommended projects in the book.  the idea is to concentrate on your subject and your skills will improve.

i have much to be thankful for this year!  i hope that you all have a wonderful day spent with family and friends!  i will be eating my dad's smoked turkey and hanging out with my family.
